Yes, we reserved for a big group
Does a bear shi....in the woods.....why yes they do! Well worth it!
YES! ALWAYS! Please visit the restaurant and ask for Chuck...
Loved the breakfast here. Friendly staff, terrific food esp the Yukon bacon. It's a small place and there's usually a lineup here so be prepared to wait. Highly recommended.
An historic restaurant with good traditional food, prepared fresh every day. Take the time to look through historical artifacts and look back at Canadian history.
We enjoyed our meal. They make a good burger and a good Reuben sandwich. Delicious french fries, too.
Amazing service and extremely yummy food. l have to recognize that this is a great place for a wonderful family classic breakfast. Tomahawk is even attended and run by its owner., what amazing experience. With Real and authentic native artifacts decorating the entire restaurant. I really love it!
Food was ok, hollandaise sauce was very tasty. I had special tea with me and was rejected to take it inside or even to pour to their glass ( Service was cold.
Cute, western themed brunch restaurant with good staff and service. Wished they also offered pancakes and waffles. Their pies are traditional and good. Overall nice to try when in town.
One-of-a-kind GEM of the north shore. Best breakfast, husband loves the Yukon, bacon is amazing, eggs benny's the bomb so good! Coffee is delicious, I buy it to take home to make it's that good. The dinner menu looks equally amazing - have yet to have - soon will go ...will keep you posted.
Solid, old school diner food. Be objective about the interior, it's a relic of it's time I think (which seems to be the early 60s).Service was pretty meh. I think the server we had was in training or something.
I take my grandma here for breakfast every time she visits from Quebec. She loves loves their pies, says that it reminds her of the pies that her mother used to make when she was a child. The Tomahwak is also one of my dad's favourite places for breakfast - we always come by for Father's Day and during the holidays. He always orders their Yukon Breakfast. Service is always friendly and the food is good too! Really appreciate their commitment to free run eggs and organic beef, and local produce. Makes a difference in the taste and quality of the food, you feel full after eating but not weighed down. Thank you for all the great meals and lovely atmosphere over the years!
Exactly what you would expect from an old classic. Food is good and service is friendly.
A great little restaurant filled with nostalgia related relics, tasty food and positive vibes. I had heard from a friend about this place and the family needed a detour from the delayed lift at Grouse Mountain. We had a variety of dishes for brunch but I would have to say the pancakes and Canadian bacon were the best parts. Worth checking out!
I've always scored 4 or 5 stars for the quality of food and reasonable price. I understand that the restaurant was having problem with hiring chefs and server back in 2017. Could be the reason, yesterday I experienced poor food & customer service. Didn't take food order since we ordered the drink and half of glasses became empty, finally we could ordered and ended up eating burned toast BLT and super dry hamburger. McDonald's would be better than that. Chef must be new or didn't know the history/quality of "Tomahawks" food. Hopefully it works out.We will try again in the future.
Food arrived hot and fast. Portions are smaller than last time we were here and that's the only reason I'm awarding 4 and not 5 stars. We ordered off the Daily Lunch Special menu and our son had an eagle burger with cheese. Our server was polite and attentive. No problem with the service or food. Will be back.
Looking for a friendly environment and some amazing food. Look no more this restaurant was beyond all our expectations. The owner was there and quickly shared on how this restaurant is 94 years old. Wow!! We were gifted and blessed by our food. Thanks!!
The food's okay but its not for me. I found the scambled eggs to be a little soggy for my taste. The hospitality is great tho. The interior and atmosphere was rich with cultural tradition that make you feel honored being there.
Tomahawk is always a great way to start the day on a rainy Saturday or Sunday. Old time nostalgic layout with a long row of counter stools and a selection of booths and tables. The walls and ceiling and covered with the an endless and fascinating selection of first nations artifacts. Half the fun is gazing around the room and the working out what everything is until your first arrives. The Yukon Breakfast is a classic that never gets old. After 16 years away from North Vancouver it was fantastic to find that the food, the decor and the friendly atmosphere have not changed. In a world where everything is changing, the Tomahawk is one thing that does not and that will keep me coming back and bringing my friends and family for as long as I am traveling to Vancouver.Well done, Tomahawk. Don't ever change.
Very cool decor. The free range eggs and hasbrowns were delicious. They only serve back bacon, if you haven't had it before, I would say it tastes like bacon but with a ham texture. The French toast wasn't as fluffy as I'd like them but had good flavour, if you like cinnamon. I would come back again.
Long-faithful crowd loves this place for the friendly service, I suppose. Because the food is mediocre at best.
Went here on a whim of what was in the area today & probably wouldn’t come back! The service was friendly but the food lacked flavour or desirable qualities to leave you craving to come back. I would recommend the kitchen taking the extra step to make their own hash browns vs buying bagged Sysco hash browns.
This place has been around since 1926. Voted best breakfast 16 years in a row. Friendly staff, owners usually on site. Good menu of classic dinner specials. Real roast Turkey, real inhouse fresh baked Yorkshire pudding. Old style milkshakes etc. Lots of native decorations and old photos. Very good breakfasts. Diners drive ins and dives visited.Easy parking. Check it out
Great spot, great food and Phil is a excellent host👌😊
DELICIOUS. A friend and I both got the Breakfast Veggie Bowl. It was a great portion of fresh veggies, topped with a perfect hollindaise and poached egg. Will definitely be back to try their pies - which looked amazing.
It's open inside also the best breakfast I've had in awhile thanks Chuck
A+ ambiance! Food is average.
Had breakfast here this morning and really enjoyed the meal and the ambience of a wonderful restaurant. We all had the Tomahawk breakfast and was pleasantly surprised when my plate was placed before me. The bacon was amazing, the hash browns done perfectly and the pancakes I ordered on the side we light, fluffy and absolutely delicious.
Its okay food, but convenient. The blonde waitress was nice but she was also hilarious (not so much a compliment). Instead of simply saying I'll be right back when we asked to order right away, she said "I like to do it my way." Then when requesting for sugar and cream, she had to point out that we initially asked for black coffee (we know that). I tipped very generously even though she gave the machine straight to the gentlemen I was with and chats him up assuming he would be paying. Silly.
Cute restaurant with lots of character! The Rueben sandwich was our favorite by far in comparison to the Mixed Grill and Skookum Burger. The mixed grill was massive but mainly due to the bacon, the other dishes were better. Overall a good restaurant and reasonable prices!
You have to get the Rueben sandwich, it’s absolutely amazing. Not sure if I was just starving or if it really is that good. We asked what we should get from the waitress and she recommended the Rueben, mixed grill breakfast and the skookum chief burger. I would not order the mixed grill again, it was large but nothing special. The skookum was interesting, ground beef, wiener and egg. As far as burgers go, it was good but not the best item on the menu. The fries are decent.
Fantastic food and a warm welcome
Famous for their breakfast....but everything else is amazing too. I had their chef salad and it was so fresh and real freshly carved Turkey. Myself and my sisters all enjoyed very much. You must try at least once if you haven't been. Sad to hear it's closing down soon. So go while you can!!
A hidden local gem perfect for a slice of fruit+cream pie and a coffee (really hidden--I've been here several times but once again accidentally drove passed it). This place has something you can't fake and is increasingly hard to find in our shiny new city: genuine character. There is no shortage of nostalgic memorabilia, and the whole place has a Twin Peaks vibe. You're not at another hipster coffee shop, or pseudo-70s diner, or gastropub. You're at the Tomahawk. Why 4 stars? Because although everyone needs to come here at least once, in truth the regular meals are okay but nothing to write home about (imho).
With a relatively new brunch menu, Tomahawk continues to serve great diner food with a bit of something for everyone. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious and if you like meat you are in for a treat because there are plenty of options for meat lovers. For vegetarians, there are a few option and you can always give your Yukon bacon to a friend and enjoy your pancakes and eggs in peace. The coffee is delicious. And the ambiance is a throwback to a different era with both indigenous decor and photos of the queen. But if there is something you must try, it would be enjoying a piece of lemon meringue pie. That meringue is out of this world like clouds of the lightest marshmallow that disappears on your tongue. And the lemon curd is a thin layer of tartness. The perfect combo. It's like one of those restaurants you discover on a road trip in a small town and you wonder if you've done a bit of time travel too.
